      APGRD Notes
We do not know when this play was produced. There is an argument that if the action of the play was set in Phyllis, then it was likely to have been produced while Athens had power over that area (between 438-424 BC), see TrGF 5.2, p. 674. The date range for performance given here however ranges from the date of Euripides' first competition to the date of his last year competing in the Dionysia before leaving to go to Macedon (see Life of Euripides for both). The performance venue and location is not certain, but it is assumed here that this play would have been performed in Athens.
