The APGRD's Modern Productions database records information about performances inspired by the ancient Greek and Roman plays and epic texts. The database aims to be global in scope, and ranges from the year 1315 to present day. Performance is defined in its broadest sense, encompassing stage-plays, films, television, dance, opera, musicals, radio/audio drama, and readings or recitations.

You can explore the database with the Quick Search, and then filter your results.

Alternatively, you can use the Search Page to set parameters such as language, country, performance-type, date range, the source ancient-work, people and/or companies involved.

Results are cross-referenced with our archive and library catalogues to let you know whether the APGRD collections hold any items related to the productions.

The database will always be a work-in-progress and should not be considered a definitive record. We acknowledge the anglophone and European bias in the compiled data to-date, and we are developing a number of strategies to help improve the global representation we wish to achieve.

We greatly appreciate any additions or corrections that you may be able to provide.
