      APGRD Notes
Euripides wrote two plays with this title. We do not know when either of them was produced. On metrical grounds, it has been suggested that they were no later than Andromache, Hecuba, Supplices, and Electra, i.e. no later than 416 BC, see TrGF 5.2, p. 856. The date range for performance given here therefore ranges from the date of Euripides' first competition (see Life of Euripides) to 416 BC. The performance venue and location is not certain, but it is assumed here that this play would have been performed in Athens.
