Simon Perris

Simon Perris is an Associate Professor of Classics at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He completed his Oxford DPhil in 2008 with a thesis on the post-war literary reception of The Bacchae in English (supervisor: Oliver Taplin), later published as The Gentle, Jealous God: Reading Euripides' Bacchae in English (Bloomsbury, 2016). He has also published numerous articles and chapters on Greek drama, translation, and classical reception, with a major research interest being classical reception in New Zealand literature, especially literature by indigenous Māori writers.
