
Dr Avery Willis Hoffman completed her doctoral thesis in 2005: 'Euripides' Trojan Women: A 20th-Century War Play in Performance' (supervisor: Oliver Taplin). Since finishing her doctorate, Avery has continued to work professionally in arts and culture participating in or leading projects with Focus Features Film, William J. Clinton Foundation (Clinton Global Initiative), TED Conferences (TED Prize 2004), Ralph Appelbaum Associates (Smithsonian: National Museum of African American History and Culture), and Park Avenue Armory in New York City. Avery is currently Artistic Director of the Brown Arts Institute at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Concurrently, Avery has collaborated with director Peter Sellars on multiple international projects over nearly two decades.
