APGRD Notes
It is not known when this play might have been produced. The date range for performance is between the year of his first competition (acc. to Suda) and his death (Marm. Par.). It has been suggested that this is a late play of Aeschylus (see Sommerstein, Aeschylus Fragments (Loeb, 2008), p. 61). It is assumed that this play would have been produced in Athens. This was the first play in Aeschylus' Lycurgeia (Lycurgus tetralogy). The other plays in that tetralogy were: Bassarids, Youths, and Lycurgus.
