Performed at the wedding of Alfonso d'Este, son of Duke Ercole I, and Anna Sforza. Interludes divided up the five acts of the play: a choral dance by ivy-clad youths, Apollo singing an ode in praise of the d'Este house, a rustic farce, an entry of Bacchus and Venus, and a pantomime of the judgement of Paris. The ceiling had to be repaired after the entertainment since it had been broken into to construct the Paradixo (Paradise scene).
