Production notes:
This production was staged in Cambridge during the 15 month period when Amner Hall had the Cambridge Festival Theatre on a lease from Terence Gray. It is highly likely that the production was staged in Cambridge before it toured to the Oxford Playhouse, which suggests a production date in Cambridge of October-November 1929. The production was revived in Cambridge in the summer of 1930. Walton (p.342) suggests that J. B. Fagan directed a production of Iphigenia in Tauris at the Oxford Playhouse in 1929; no evidence, however, has yet come to light for a 'home-grown' production of this play in this year, and so it is likely that the performance referred to by Walton is actually the Cambridge one, directed by Tyrone Guthrie, on its tour to Oxford.
