1981 Oresteia at the National Theatre - 30th-anniversary celebration event

This event will be an evening of entertainment celebrating the production of The Oresteia performed at the National Theatre in London, 1981, translated by Tony Harrison, directed by Peter Hall, with music by Harrison Birtwistle and designs by Jocelyn Herbert.

Hosted by Professor Oliver Taplin, the event will include a talk by Tony Harrison, a discussion about Harrison Birtwistle's original score, and a reading by the actor Greg Hicks.

An exhibition of archive material relating to the production, including Jocelyn Herbert's masks and copies of her original designs, will be open from 3pm in the Ioannou Centre for Classical and Byzantine Studies at 66 St Giles', Oxford.
