Public Lecture
Director Conor Hanratty will be in conversation with Edith Hall (Durham) about his Irish-language version of Aeschylus' Persians, Na Peirsigh. Na Peirsigh, translated by renowned writer and poet Nuala Ní Dhomhnaill, premiered at the Abbey Theatre in March 2024. A play that sets out so much of what theatre will do, has done and must do, it makes us see the world from another perspective, subverting expectations and honouring the humanity of the enemy. Join us to hear Conor Hanratty discuss his rich new version of Europe’s oldest known surviving play in one of Europe’s oldest spoken languages.
