In this staged reading of Antigone, the scenes were given in ancient Greek with the choral parts in Kyrikos' modern Greek translation of Donner's German text. The role of Antigone was played by an amateur male actor. The play was mounted during the 4th Olympic Exposition in Athens to mark the 25th anniversary of King George I's reign. Another production of Antigone was performed two days' later in Athens (see ID 8291).
