Libretto: Marco Coltellini, 'Antigona. Tragedia per musica di Marco Coltellini, poeta al servizio do S.M.I. Da rappresentarsi nell'Imperial Teatro di St. Pietroburgo il novembre dell'anno 1772' (St Petersburg: Stamperia dell'Accademia delle Scienze/Academy of Sciences, 1772; reprinted Florence: Gaetano Cambiagi, 1773). Coltellini and Traetta's Antigona followed the operatic reform proposed in the treatise 'Saggio sopra l'opera in musica' by Francesco Algarotti (see APGRD ID 9838). The opera includes pantomime and dance.
