The première of this dramma per musica took place in Turin in January 1788 (Production ID 7561); it was followed by a second production in Milan in the autumn of the same year (Production ID 10823). The Milan production was probably meant to be paired with another production at La Scala in the preceding season, which used Moretti's libretto and music by Zingarelli (Sartori ID 12737). The ballets which were performed during intervals of this production were titled: La discesa d'Ercole all'inferno (see Production ID 10825) and Le feste di Flora.
