APGRD Notes
Lost black and white silent French film; made in 1912 and released in France in December 2012 (released January 1913 in Europe and North America with US Title: Oedipus Rex). Michelakis calculates that the original film would have been just under an hour long; evidence for its existence survives in stills; posters; censorship records, and one 45 second clip (Gaumont Archives in Paris) depicting Oedipus revealing himself to the chorus he has blinded himself (see: Michelakis, Greek Tragedy on Screen, 2013, p.17).
