Production notes:
We do not know when this play was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens. It is possible that this play belonged to a tetralogy about Telephus and was produced together with Mysians, Son of Aleus, and Eurypylus. For the existence of a Telephus trilogy by Sophocles, see IG II² 3091. It has been suggested that the Telephus was the satyr drama.
