It is not certain that Sophocles wrote an Auge, no fragments remain but it may have been a play in his Telepheia; see TrGF4, p. 434. If he did write one, then we do not know when it was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens.
