Erin Lee (National Theatre, London)
Jess Richardson (National Theatre, London)
JdP, St Hilda's College, Oxford

Week one of the seminar series 'Greek tragedy between stage and screen', will be a talk by Erin Lee, Head of Archive at the National Theatre, and Jess Richardson, Head of Production and Content at the National Theatre, accompanied by digital content and followed by discussion.

Attendance is free, and open to all, but please BOOK YOUR SEAT via EVENTBRITE

The filming of stage performances is very important for archival purposes. However, performance capture as an artform, and filming performances in a way that is most beneficial for archiving can differ. In addition, there is a significant difference between watching a filmed performance in the context of an archive and watching by audiences at home. This talk will address the pre-production processes of deciding camera plans and scripting camera shots, the captures themselves, their schedules and the equipment used, followed by different types of post-production processes. Camera scripts, shot cards, and clips from captures will also be shared.
