Production notes:
We do not know when this play was produced. It is alluded to in Aristophanes' Wasps (312-4) and must have been performed before the production of the comedy in 422 BC. The date range for performance given here therefore ranges from the date of Euripides' first competition (see Life of Euripides) to 423 BC. The performance venue and location is not certain, but it is assumed here that this play would have been performed in Athens.
