It is not certain that Sophocles wrote a play called Ixion, see TrGF4, p.267. It is only quoted once, though it also found in an inscription (see TrGF1, DID A4b 6f, p. 31). If Sophocles did write an Ixion, then we do not know when this play was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens.
