It is not certain that Sophocles wrote a Theseus. It is only quoted once and may have been identical with Aegeus (see TrGF4, p.239). If it was its own play, then we do not know when this play was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens.
