We do not know when this play was first produced. The date range given here is based on Sophocles' first competition (Mar. Par) and his last (Life of Euripides 2). It is assumed here that the play would have been performed in Athens. No fragments from this tragedy survive but its action is summarised by Parthenius (Love Romances 3), see TrGF4, p.194.
