It is not known when this play was performed. It is mentioned by Aristotle in his Poetics (16 = 1455a, 4) and so it must have been produced before the composition of that work. The date range offered here is based on the evidence that Polyidus won in the dithyramb during these years (Marm. Par, A 68). It seems, from the comments of Aristotle, that this 'Iphigenia' was an 'Iphigenia amongst the Taurians'. The performance venue is not certain, but it is assumed here that the play was performed in Athens.
