      APGRD Notes
A film version of Euripides' Trojan Women, the second in Cacoyannis' trilogy of Greek tragedies (along with Electra in 1962 (ID: 1066) and Ifigeneia in 1977 (ID: 14127)). Van Steen writes that "after the Greek government banned Cacoyannis' Electra, The Trojan Women was produced in Spain in 1971, with an international cast of stars and with dialogue in English. The new movie was denied release in Greece as long as the colonels remained in charge" (2001, p.181).
