      APGRD Notes
A conceptual collaboration of George Balanchine and surrealist painter Pavel Tchelitchew. Roles were split into singers and dancers; while the former sang in the orchestra pit, the latter performed on stage. Balanchine's own dance company from the School of American Ballet served as the ballet ensemble. Performed as a double bill with Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana.
