According to the organisers, 'Sympatheia will be an occasion for projects based in universities and focusing on the practical side of Greek and Roman Drama (performance and/or outreach) to showcase their work, goals and mission.
Based in the beautiful city of Lisbon, Europe’s gateway to the Atlantic, this two-day event will count on the participation of projects from both sides of the ocean. They will be represented by students, researchers and distinguished professors. Many papers will be accompanied by live and recorded performances. The symposium will host two keynote sessions: a Theatron round table and a lecture by Prof Emmanuela Bakola (University of Warwick – Warwick Ancient Drama Festival).
Sympatheia is meant to provide a platform for projects to develop personal and professional connections, the ultimate goal being to create a collaborative network of initiatives exploring the many ways ancient theatre can come alive in Academia.'
